A Journey Inspired by Personal Experience: The Nestlings Origin Story
It all started when one of our co-founders, Raj, immigrated from Bangalore, India to Scotland for a masters without any help in the process.
Navigating this admissions journey – from obtaining a visa to looking for loans, selecting classes, and ultimately finding the right career – made Raj realize that international students were disadvantaged compared to their peers, which came at a great cost.
Raj worked twice as hard as his classmates to find a job in technology after completing his degree.
Eventually, he enlisted the help of his wife, Sowmya (CEO of Nestlings) – a highly skilled product leader, to solve this problem for international students across the globe.
As immigrants themselves, Raj and Sowmya see a huge market opportunity to help students from India, China, etc. to find support not only through the application process, but also through the experience of finding a job in a foreign country. Choosing the right college is crucial.
Studying abroad is one of the most thrilling chapters of a student’s life. It is a unique experience that provides the perfect opportunity to travel, meet new friends, learn a new language, and, of course, obtain a world-class education. However, moving to another country isn’t an easy transition and there are challenges along the way. Given their background and experiences in leadership and marketing, the couple were inspired by the idea of helping international students to deal with these challenges.
